## Answer

Drop your resume into the compressor below. Prefer Keep text so applicant tracking systems still read real text. For portal caps, use Target size or open Compress to 1 MB / 500 KB / 200 KB. Processing never leaves your device.

## Privacy

Compression runs in your browser. Files never leave your device. Job portals are a separate upload after you download.

## Who needs this

- Job seekers hitting ATS or portal size limits
- Applicants emailing resumes under attachment caps
- Anyone with a photo-heavy or design-exported resume PDF

## Limits

- Heavy photos or design backgrounds force stronger compression.
- Max shrink can hurt ATS text reliability — prefer Keep text when it fits.
- Password-protected resumes must be unlocked first.

## How to

1. Drop your resume PDF into the compressor below.
2. Start with Keep text; switch to Target size if a portal states 1 MB, 500 KB, or similar.
3. Preview the result — check that your name and headings stay sharp.
4. Optional: strip metadata before sending.
5. Download and upload to the job site yourself.

## FAQ

### How do I compress a resume to under 1 MB?

Use Target size here, or open Compress to 1 MB. Shrink or remove the photo in Word first if the lossless pass is not enough.

### Will ATS still read my resume?

Best chance is Keep text / lossless. If pages are rasterized, a text overlay is added, but original text is more reliable.

### Should I use Job Packet instead?

Use Prepare a resume or Job Application Packet when you also want Deep Clean, cover letter, and packaging.
