How to split a PDF by pages

You need part of a binder, one chapter, or every page as its own file. Split does that locally: choose a range or one-file-per-page, then download.

Nothing is uploaded. If the PDF is password-protected, unlock it first with a password you are allowed to use.

Step by step

  1. 1Open Split PDF and drop in an unlocked PDF.
  2. 2Enter a page range, or choose one file per page.
  3. 3Run Split and download the result(s).
  4. 4Open a downloaded file and confirm the pages are the ones you wanted.

Range vs one file per page

Use a range when you need a continuous section (for example pages 3–12). Use one-file-per-page when each page must travel alone — forms, tickets, or uploads that reject multi-page files.

If you only need a non-contiguous set of pages, Extract pages is usually clearer than splitting everything and deleting leftovers.

When splitting beats compressing

If email still rejects a file after compression, splitting into two readable parts is often better than pushing quality so low that the document is unusable.

Limits

  • Password-protected files must be unlocked first.
  • Very large files are limited by browser memory.
  • Bookmarks and forms may not fully survive every split workflow.
