How to redact a contract before sharing

A black box that still allows text selection is not redaction. On mypdf.space, applying redaction flattens covered regions so the underlying text is not left selectable in the export.

Step by step
- 1Optional: run Privacy scanner for emails, phones, and ID-like patterns.
- 2Open Redact (or Auto-redact PII for common patterns), mark every sensitive region on every page.
- 3Apply redaction and download.
- 4On the download: try to select through black areas and search for a removed term. Then strip metadata.
Verify before send
Open the file you will actually attach — not the editing session. Selection and search should fail inside redacted regions. If either succeeds, do not send.
Limits
- Auto-redact catches patterns, not every confidential clause.
- You must read the contract; context matters.
- Not a substitute for lawyer-reviewed redaction workflows.
